Samson Rope: Custom Survey with Compdata Surveys Aids Retention
Employee perception can be critical in achieving a high retention rate. Samson Rope understood this and wanted to discover how their compensation packages were viewed internally. They conducted an Employee Opinion Survey to see how employees felt about their pay and benefits.
“By conducting the survey, we discovered the majority of employees felt our wages and benefits were not in line with the local market,” said Pam Gonzalez, the Human Resources Manager of Samson Rope. To determine if this was the case, Samson Rope decided to conduct a custom compensation survey. After receiving sample data reports and conducting an interview, they decided to partner with Compdata Surveys.
To meet Samson Rope’s objectives, Compdata Surveys created an online questionnaire, which covered seven benchmark positions and nine benefit questions. The compensation survey was distributed to a list of organizations chosen by Samson Rope. Compdata Surveys followed up with the selected contacts to encourage participation in the survey.
In addition to compiling and analyzing the data, Compdata Surveys provided assistance to survey participants. When asked about her experience, Gonzalez felt the project milestones and issues were clearly communicated.
Upon the survey’s completion, Samson Rope received a copy of the results. The findings helped them shed light on the concerns raised by their internal Employee Opinion Survey. They found their starting wages were lower than the market, but their benefits were above standard. The information was communicated to their employees, and it was well received. They also discovered an added bonus to conducting the custom survey. Gonzalez said, “In addition to meeting our objective, we’ve been able to attract a more stable workforce in our recruiting efforts.”
